BudURL.com server is upgrading its network and hardware to improve the speed and overall quality of the BudURL software. This does not affect BudURL.Pro users. If you share links using the budurl.com domain, these uprades will have an impact to you.

The upgrades will take place over two separate days. One for the network upgrade and one for the hardware upgrade. The network upgrade will be done first and is being done to speed up the hardware upgrade. The network upgrade will take approximately 2 hours to complete. We  do not have a timeframe on the hardware upgrade but it is safe to say that it may take as long as 8 hours. We will provide details as soon as we have confirmation from our data center about the time to complete the hardware migration.

The network upgrade is set for:

CST:

Thu Feb 02 2012 01:00:00 GMT-0600 (CST) to Thu Feb 02 2012 03:00:00 GMT-0600 (CST)

Or GMT:

Thu, 02 Feb 2012 07:00:00 GMT to Thu, 02 Feb 2012 09:00:00 GMT

The hardware upgrade is tentatively scheduled for and the date and time may change:

CST:

Tue Feb 28 2012 07:00:00 GMT-0600 (CST) to  Wed Feb 29 2012 00:00:00 GMT-0600 (CST)

Or GMT:

Tue, 28 Feb 2012 13:00:00 GMT to Wed, 29 Feb 2012 06:00:00 GMT

What does this mean to you?

During both upgrades and longer for some users there will be some side effects:

  • Your links will still work and redirect users to the desired destination
  • Your clicks and their data will not be recorded
  • You will not be able to login or create new links although you can use the API’s expand function
  • No new registrations will be allowed

We advise all customers to not plan any campaigns or perform any significant business-related activity during this time that requires the use of tracking on BudURL.com. If you require tracking services during this window of time, we encourage you to sign up for a separate account under our budurl.pro service at http://budurl.pro . The BudURL.Pro servers are not impacted by this move.

We apologize for the inconvenience but is a necessary step for the overall improvement and health of the BudURL service. If you have any concerns, please email support@budurl.com.

Sincerely,

BudURL.com team

I guess you could make these dates less clear and more confusing-ly communicated, I'm just not sure how.
